The house

A nine-room hotel on the north Brittany coast, open April to October, run by two people and three from the village.

The house was built in 1892 for a harbor pilot and stayed in one family until 1998. We bought it in 2013 with a leaking roof and a barometer screwed to the hall wall, and opened with four rooms the following spring. There are nine now. The barometer is still there and we have never moved it.

We are a small operation: two of us live here, and three people from the village work through the season. Nobody is on the desk at 3 a.m. If you arrive late, tell us and we will leave a key and a light on.

House notes

The things worth knowing before you book rather than after you arrive.

There is no lift, and the Harbor Rooms are on the first floor up a staircase with a turn in it.
The dining room is not suitable for large groups; the most we seat comfortably is fourteen.
We do not have a license to serve alcohol. You are welcome to bring your own to the reading room.
Wi-Fi reaches every room, but streaming in all nine at once is optimistic.
We are a twenty-minute drive from the nearest pharmacy and forty from a hospital.
