While you are here

None of this costs extra unless it says so. Most of it involves going outside.

The long table laid for breakfast in the empty dining room, in flat morning light
  • Breakfast at the long table

    Daily, 8:00-10:00 · All season

Bread from the village, eggs from the farm on the hill, and whatever fruit is good that week. Everyone eats at the same table, which some guests love and some do not; there are two small tables by the window if you would rather not. If you need to leave before eight, tell us the night before and we will put something out.

  • The tide table in the hall

    All season

The beach below the house is only there for about four hours either side of low water. The rest of the time it is water and rock. We write the day’s times on the board each morning, along with what the wind is doing, because one of those two facts decides most people’s day here.

  • Six bicycles

    All season

Old but maintained, with one child seat and two helmets that fit most adults. The coast road is flat for eleven kilometers in one direction and not flat at all in the other; the flat way is west. Take a lock. Bring them back before dark, because they have no lights and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

  • Oyster morning at the beds

Two hours · June to September

Two hours out on the flats with the family that farms them, at low water, which some weeks means seven in the morning. Boots are provided and you will get wet anyway. We pass on your name the day before; you pay them directly on the beach.

Booked with the grower, paid directly · €18 per person

  • The reading room

    All season

One wall of books, most of them about weather and the sea and a surprising number about lighthouses, a fire from October, and a rule against telephone calls. It is the warmest room in the house in April and the emptiest one in August.
